When it comes to selecting games for Wii consoles and you are fairly new to the system, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Wii world centres on Wii Sports and more recently the programs associated with health promoting Wii Fit. The reality however is a lot different and Nintendo are not the only ones who have produced gaming software for the Wii. Whilst it is true that certain titles are only available in certain areas of the world, I recently came across one list that sported somewhere around 500 – at least that was the figure before I gave up counting. Not everything is really as it seems however. From the time it launched on November 21st, 2006 with just 23 titles, it has come a long way.
The Wii for many games is ahead of it's time. As evidenced by Wii Sports, the Wii provides for a truly interactive experience. The opportunity exists to stimulate muscles you never knew existed! When playing such games you truly feel the experience. There are on the market however, games that would just as easily be played on your normal home computer. In fact, some of them have been transported to the Wii and your playing experience may seem a little odd as you try and wield the controller to get it to perform the necessary actions. “Think before you buy” may well be the best policy to adopt.
Another aspect to consider, is exactly where you buy your games for the Wii and do you really want to be paying high street prices? Searching on the internet will reveal a very large number of retailers willing to supply your needs and sometimes for a percentage reduction for the software you seek. The Wii can however, go far beyond games and be turned into a real entertainment system providing music, movies and tv shows. If you can download from the internet, then with thousands of different files available, the Wii becomes something truly special.
